Business Responsibility SatData
Using our technology and solutions to make a positive impact on people, the environment, and the future of our planet.
Together we create change
SatData BV is committed to making a positive contribution worldwide. We do this with our people, our products, and our entire supply chain. We believe that critical connectivity and sustainability can go hand in hand: from energy-efficient hardware to responsible sourcing of components.
We encourage volunteering and involvement in the local community. Employees are encouraged to commit to projects related to ecology, education, sports, and health. In the development of our products, we invest in raising awareness among customers and partners and maintain a green supply chain policy to ensure that our solutions meet high standards of quality, ethics, and sustainability.
Building a fair and sustainable world
Respecting human rights and promoting health and safety worldwide are core values at SatData. We take all reasonable measures to ensure that these values are respected in our international supply chain and with all partners with whom we collaborate.
Green product policy
Protecting human health and the environment is central to our product design. SatData controls and limits the use of hazardous substances in the supply chain through internal environmental guidelines and supplier criteria. Wherever possible, we opt for less harmful materials, longer product lifespans, and reusable or recyclable components.
We comply with relevant European and international regulations regarding hazardous substances and environmental protection in electrical and electronic equipment, and adapt our processes when laws and regulations are tightened.
EU regulation on batteries
SatData strives to keep the impact of batteries on people and the environment as small as possible. In doing so, we align with the objectives of European regulations for batteries and accumulators, which are aimed at reducing harmful effects during production, use, and disposal. Where applicable, we collaborate with certified collection and processing partners.
EU Packaging Regulation
With our packaging, we strive for minimal waste. In line with European packaging regulations, we limit the use of materials, promote reuse and recycling, and avoid the use of heavy metals and other hazardous substances wherever possible. We prefer to choose recyclable or already recycled packaging materials.
Persistent organic pollutants (POPs)
SatData supplies products that comply with the relevant European POP Regulation. We avoid the use of substances prohibited by applicable legislation and continuously work on further limiting environmentally harmful chemical components in our products and processes.
PFOS-free design
SatData considers it important that all products are designed and manufactured with minimal use of substances that pose risks to human health and the environment. In this context, we strive to avoid perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) and similar substances in electronic components, in line with relevant European regulations.
International environmental treaties
SatData endorses the objectives of major international environmental treaties, such as:
- the Montreal Protocol, aimed at protecting the ozone layer by phasing out ozone-depleting substances;
- the Rotterdam Convention, which promotes joint responsibility in the trade of dangerous chemicals.
Where these treaties have been transposed into European or national legislation, we comply with the obligations arising therefrom.
Responsible purchasing
We want to make a difference through responsible sourcing and sustainable inventory management. This means that we not only comply with regulations but actively collaborate with our suppliers to achieve a positive, long-lasting impact.
Responsible purchasing and supplier responsibility
SatData maintains a proactive policy to ensure that our activities, and those of our suppliers, do not violate laws and regulations or locally applicable standards and practices, and do not infringe upon the rights of others. We strive to prevent the use of conflict minerals and adhere to international guidelines for responsible supply chain management.
Supply chain management
To have a real impact, SatData seeks long-term partnerships with strategic suppliers who adhere to the same standards regarding quality, ethics, and sustainability. Through sustainable inventory management, supply chain transparency, and joint improvement processes, we continuously work on further sustainability.
We expect our suppliers to:
- sourcing raw materials from conflict-free sources;
- can demonstrate that parts are produced in smelters and refineries that are certified as conflict-free under internationally recognized programs;
- Comply with relevant regulations and industry codes regarding the environment, working conditions, and human rights.
Conflict-free supply chain
SatData takes steps to prevent the use of minerals such as tin, tungsten, tantalum, and gold from contributing to human rights violations or the financing of armed conflicts. In line with international regulations and guidelines regarding conflict minerals, we expect our direct and indirect suppliers to apply due diligence in their global supply chain.
We ask suppliers for transparency regarding the origin of relevant raw materials and to take corrective measures where necessary. SatData strives to ensure that its products are manufactured using minerals from conflict-free sources and continues to further develop its policies and processes in this area.
